Cable Design in CREO

This course covers cable and harness design in Creo Parametric, from electrical circuit creation through 3D routing to manufacturing documentation. It is built for engineers who already work in Creo and need to extend that practice into electromechanical design.

Overview

What this course covers

The course addresses the design of cables and wiring harnesses using the Cabling tools in Creo Parametric. It follows a single workflow: electrical circuits are defined first, the assembly is prepared for routing, wires and cables are laid in 3D, harnesses are developed, and the project is documented for manufacturing.

Work moves between the logical and the physical side of a cable system. The logical side covers electrical circuits, components and their properties, networks and logical connections. The physical side covers routing in an assembly, shielding, splices, harness layout and the production model of the harness.

The capability the course builds is the ability to take an electromechanical system from schematic intent to a documented, manufacturable harness within Creo, including the drawings, BOM tables and connection tables a production team needs.

OUTCOMES

What you'll learn

Create and manage electrical circuits and logical connections in Creo Parametric

Define and configure electrical components — lamps, switches, relays, control modules and power supply units — including their properties

Prepare assemblies for cable and harness routing, including work regions, skeleton models and cable wireframe structures

Perform automatic and manual routing of wires and cables, including shielding

Create and verify splices and check the status of logical connections

Develop and organise cable bundles and planar harness layouts

Produce manufacturing documentation — harness drawings, BOM tables, coil specification tables and from-to connection tables
