Overview
What this course covers
PTC Arbortext Editor is used to author and maintain structured, XML-based technical documentation: product manuals, service and maintenance content, and other industrial publications. This course covers the editor across its full working scope, from the structure of a technical publication to the generation of finished output.
The program moves through the documentation workflow in sequence — XML fundamentals, structured editing, technical illustration integration, stylesheets and formatting, publishing, content reuse, and automation. It closes with a practical project in which a complete technical manual is built and published.
OUTCOMES
What you'll learn
Apply XML-based documentation principles — structure, tags, attributes, entities, DTD and Schema concepts — and validate structured content
Create and edit structured technical documents in Arbortext, including tables, cross-references, hyperlinks, and managed document hierarchy
Integrate technical illustrations and CAD graphics, including Creo Illustrate content, exploded views, and callouts linked to procedures
Configure stylesheets and formatting rules, and set up page layouts and templates for both PDF and HTML output
Generate documentation in multiple formats — PDF, HTML and web, print-ready manuals — and troubleshoot output
Manage content reuse: reusable modules, conditional content, version management, and document libraries across large projects
Build automation with the Arbortext command language, macros, custom menus, scripts, and batch publishing
